Publish and be Damned!
Having spent a great deal of effort writing short stories for many years now, some of which have won awards and been published in anthologies, I thought it about time I got some of them out there in book form rather than leave them languishing in files in my writing room. I recently read an adventure story for children to my local writing group (Llanelli Writers’ Circle) which was very well received, so I decided to put together five stories for kids (aged 9/10 to 12/13) and get them printed by our local printers. It has emerged as a rather nice 32-page booklet (though I say it myself) entitled “Adventures in Time”, and I’m hoping it will go down well at the Llandeilo Book Fair on April 30th – along with “The Brindavan Chronicle”.
I already have a second volume in mind. Perusing my output I was a little surprised to find how many stories I have written over the years about women bumping off their spouses (perhaps due to that masculine insecurity some of us feel when we’re not quite sure what our wives/girlfriends/partners are thinking!). So I plan to put some of them together in another booklet. I already have a title – “The Female of the Species … “. (No need to complete the saying!)
