Showboat Studio Interview
You know when you hear a recording of your voice and you hate it? Well, recently we had an interview with Showboat Studios. Yesterday the interview was released. What is worse that hearing a recording of yourself? Seeing yourself too!
Actually it was a lovely afternoon. We travelled to the studio – this husband and wife author duo and were greeted with such kindness and hospitality. Author Judith Barrow conducted our interview and she made us feel relaxed and we found ourselves feeling like we were having a chinwag with a good friend and forgot about the camera. It was a strange feeling answering questions about our books and how we write and got into writing but the whole experience was very enjoyable.
The trouble with being an author is that you have to sell yourself, to promote your work and entice readers to want to buy ad read your books. The thing is, this goes against our nature as individuals but as a husband and wife duo, we can promote each other, for example my wife’s novel ‘The Neem Tree’ is an excellent read – it has themes of poverty, exclusion and prejudice which are no picnic and it gets even darker, however love and spirituality are at the core. It’s the tale of a girl, Neem’s extraordinary growth through adversity and never giving up. Its an exciting story that takes you on a turbulent journey with this young girl Neem. Although our writing styles are very different my wife is an excellent writer, and as a husband and wife duo we support each other well because of this. Now, do not get me wrong, after being together for over 40 years, we do not always see eye to eye on things! For example, I think you see my wife roll her eyes when we start talking out football – well what can I say? I have been an Arsenal fan since I was a small boy. Watching ‘Match of the Day’ or football matches is my down time from life.
